The Curator's Eye
Roger LaRochelle and his late partner Jack Carlson spent 20 years at the mine site in the Gran Sabana of southeastern Venezuela, locally known as the Roraima Shield collecting magnificent gold crystals from a massive placer deposit. This collection became known worldwide as the Roraima Shield collection and many of these gold crystals are now in personal collections and museums all over the world. Mr. LaRochelle decided that the final three crystals, and the most important, be sold as a set. Each of these world class gold specimens have been widely published and each is breathtakingly beautiful.

Giant Red Fenster Quartz, Brazil
It has been years since a large Skeleton Quartz was found in Minas Gerais, Brazil. This Red Fenster Quartz cluster was discovered in Itamarandiba in August of 2016. Many things make this specimen very special. It's size and pristine condition make it a museum quality piece.
Roselite on Calcite, Bou Azer Dist., Ouarzazate Prov., Morocco
This is by leagues the best of species for Roselite. I have never seen nor heard of one this large or this fine. This Roselite is on a scale I didn't know existed. The color is the most vivid purple-red you can imagine. Every crystal is gem and its all growing over lustrous Calcite crystals. Roselite occurs in less than a dozen places worldwide and this quality only has been seen from Morocco..

Gilded Wooden Image of the Monk Sariputta
This fine, carved wooden sculpture of one of the Buddha's two chief disciples, Sariputta (the other is Moggallana), is of gilded, lacquered wood with mirrored glass inserts and thayo work. Conventionally in Burma, Sariputta is depicted seated on the Buddha's right. Sariputta was deemed second to Buddha in terms of wisdom and knowledge of the Dhamma.
