|This superb statuette of a standing Kuanyin is from the Northern Zhou to Sui period based on stylistic parallels. Very finely carved, every detail is indicated, and there are traces of its original gilding and polychromy. It is remarkably well preserved, intact, and a masterpiece of early Chinese Buddhist sculpture.|
Kuanyin is the Chinese version of the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, the boddhisatva of compassion.
|Report by Orenda of a microscopic examination of it confirming its early dating.|
