Qashqai kilim, Fars Province, South West Persia, circa 1890. This slit tapestry rug has wonderful, bright, cheery colors arranged in patterned horizontal bands. The ornament is all geometric and no animals or plants are present. The two tone reciprocal border sets off the design and there are extra stripes across the ends. The overall graphics are excellent. |
