|A superlative example of this 18th century subject, much less worn than is often the case, the monkey's feet better defined. He holds his gourd in front of him, its bulges looking very much like a pair of ample breasts. He has a good expressive face with protruding pupils in dark material, while the fish's eyes are similar flush inlays, and the whole piece has a good dark patina.NOTE: This lot contains antique ivory. The Curator's Eye is not able to assist buyers with the shipment of this lot into the US, as The United States Government has banned the import of ivory into the US. This lot may also require a licence or certificate prior to exportation from the UK and may require additional licences or certificates to be imported into other countries. Export and/or import licences and/or certificates are solely the responsibility of the buyer, and a buyer’s inability to obtain them is not reason for a delay in payment or a lot' sale cancellation.|
