|This is the only example I have ever seen outside of a museum and even most museum firearm collections do not have an example like this!! This is absolutely wonderful in every respect and having it mounted in 'Paktong' is frosting on the cake.|
Made by Joseph Hunt of London circa 1775, the pistol has a 4 1/2" turn-off paktong barrel cluster. The octagonal breech turns into polygonal and is engraved "London" on a foliate rococo scroll along the top flat. The tang is also beautifully engraved, as is the flat bevelled lock and the sliding safety.
The spurred paktong pommel is engraved with rocailles and foliage on each side and the trigger-guard has an acorn finial. The gun has both London and Tower proof marks. The Naval officer who carried this into a mutiny or boarding action had quite an arsenal and few would have survived.
