|Probably Massachusetts, ca. 1840. Maple and pine. Wonderful paint decoration with original, finely alligatored, crackled over-varnish. Branded "IA" underneath. A superb New England pantry box having skilled free-hand decoration in vibrant yellow paint on a green painted ground. Fingers on lid and body are joined by cut nails. Appears to read, in pencil inscription under the lid "Thomson & P__" "Painter".|
