|A Wooden Model of a Third Rate Ship-of-the-Line|
This model is in exceptionally fine original condition. The hull is of hollowed timber with painted wales and open portlids. It has a carved polychrome figurehead of Neptune holding a trident with a decorated stern and quarter galleries. The timber decks have inscribed plank lines featuring a capstan, galley chimney, water butts and binnacle; the brass cannon are on wooden carriages; The ship has detailed wooden spars and fighting tops with studding sail booms on the yards and accurate running and standing rigging with paper flags. The full hull is set in a waterline mount on a wooden plinth with a painted sea and decoration; it has two pairs of ship's boats streamed alongside
