Of notably small proportions, perhaps for a boy, the iron hilt with slightly arched forward-swept quillons widening acutely towards the tips, a ring-guard between, decorated with an encrusted pattern of silver pellets arranged between silver segmental lines, the pommel en suite, and retaining its moulded wooden grip bound with iron wire and “Turk’s heads”. The blade tapering to a narrow point of diamond section, cut with a pair of deep narrow fullers pierced with a decorative pattern of grouped minute crosses and circular holes, with a fluted medial ridge developing to form a short pair of fullers over the rearward section, with a supplementary pair of slotted fullers cut over the ricasso, and the ricasso with its inner face flattened for the thumb.
